From the President
The 2014 WXXI Online Auction kicks off this Saturday, April 12 — and if you haven't yet resistered to bid, I encourage you to do so! When you register before April 10, you receive a complimentary pair of Little Theatre tickets, plus you receive a special VIP privilege — you get early-bird bidder’s access to the Auction the day before the launch! Among the thousands of items up for bid this year are original pieces from five local artists, a 2014 Ford Focus from Shepard Ford, an electric bicycle from Pedego, and tickets for an exclusive VIP lunch with renowned documentarian Ken Burns at the Chautauqua Institution.
Registration for a bidder’s account is now open at the Auction web site and please remember that proceeds from WXXI’s Annual Online Auction support the quality programs and services the station provides to the Rochester community. Bid high and bid often — I know that I already have my eye on a few items!

September marks the beginning of the new school year and a renewed focus on educational services at WXXI. So it is with great pride that I share some exciting news. WXXI has won its first national Emmy Award in its 42-year history and it is for one of our children’s productions. Biz Kid$, a WXXI co-production that promotes financial literacy for children, has garnered a Daytime Emmy Award. Though WXXI has won numerous regional and national awards for its programming, this is our first national Emmy and we couldn’t be more pleased!
