The uplifting performance documentary Dreamers Theater, airing Tuesday, May 6 at 9:30 p.m. on WXXI World, follows a group of cognitively challenged teens and young adults as they rehearse and stage the original musical, Assuming Assumptions. The play dramatizes the issues faced by individuals with special needs in the hopes of increasing awareness about this population and their capabilities.
This film is presented as part of MOVE TO INCLUDE, a partnership between WXXI and the Golisano Foundation designed to stimulate community dialogue about the perspectives of people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Its mission is to ultimately build a community that celebrates abilities.
