Spend an intimate evening with the talented singer, songwriter and pianist Annie Wells.
Enjoy live music at the Little Cafe every night during the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Fest. On Friday, June 22 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. enjoy a performance by the talented Annie Wells.
Annie grew up listening to Laura Nyro, Keith Jarrett, Joni Mitchell, Billie Holiday, Joan Armatrading, Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis to name a few. On her latest 13 track CD, Tell Me, the influences are clear. Some have called Annie's music a hybrid; not exactly jazz, not exactly pop — think "Nora Jones with an edge" perhaps. In the fall of 2010, she made her New York City debut at Café Vivaldi in Greenwich Village. In 2005, she won the Children's Music Web Award for best song, Fireflies from her lullaby CD tilted, Sleepy Town. Reviews of her well received albums note the sophistication of her music and lyrics and the beauty of her voice. Annie performed her first songs at the age of seventeen at an open mic in Bloomington, Indiana. Since then she has independently released 4 CD's. Annie performs her music as a soloist and with a band in all kinds of venues: coffee houses and clubs, large and small.
