"If there ever was a lady with a capital "L" who has earned her recognition in jazz, it is Marian McPartland."

It's a Jazz Fest Free-for-All from WXXI and the Little Theatre! Every evening during the Jazz Fest, we're proud to bring you this free screening. Join AM1370's Jazz from the Cellar host Tom Hampson on Friday, June 29 at 8 p.m. as he introduces the film In Good Time, The Piano Jazz of Marian McPartland, a documentary about the life and career of jazz legend Marian McPartland as a musician, composer, and host of National Public Radio's Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz.  Immediately following the screening, Tom will host a talkback with the film's producer, Huey.

A film by Huey, this documentary tells the story of now 93, McPartland through interviews filmed over 4 years featuring her own musical compositions and piano improvisations. A native of England, McPartland arrived in America in 1948 with her husband Jimmy McPartland and established herself as a leading musician in the male dominated jazz world.

"There is no doubt in my mind that Miss McPartland is the cleverest, most intelligent and talented woman to have graced our music," reviewed Steve Voce, Jazz Journal, May 2012, UK.
