In celebration of an amazing season, composer, pianist, and artistic leader Marc Neikrug joins a number of distinguished musicians in this special concert. WXXI presents a one hour feature of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival’s 40th Anniversary Concert Special, airing Sunday, September 16 at 2 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1.
The performers in this concert will showcase the following repertoire: Mozart’s Piano Quartet in E-Flat Major, K. 493; Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1 in E Major, Op. 9; Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-Flat Major, Op. 20. A wealth of talent will be present in each performance.
Since it was founded in 1972, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival has become one of the world’s preeminent music festivals, guided by a visionary spirit and dedicated to artistic excellence and innovation. Contributing to its magic is the Festival’s unique Santa Fe setting, nestled amid the timeless splendors of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Today, 40 summers later, under the spirited artistic leadership of composer/pianist Marc Neikrug, the Festival invites scores of distinguished musicians, along with emerging young talent, during its 6-wek season. This special 40th Anniversary concert takes place in the intimate, historic St. Francis Auditorium at the New Mexico Museum of Art.
