Answering to Upstate

New York Governor David Paterson participated in an editorial board meeting with six upstate New York newspaper editors.

On Tuesday, January 26 Governor's Paterson joined six New York newspaper editors at WXXI's studios to participate in the Democrat and Chronicle’s editorial board meeting. The meeting, entitled Answering to Upstate was streamed live on WXXI.org and DemocratandChronicle.com yesterday afternoon, and broadcast on WXXI-TV and AM 1370 that evening.

 

On Wednesday, January 27 at 1 p.m. WXXI News will  present an hour-long special recapping the meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. It will also air on City 12.

Answering to Upstate was hosted by WXXI News Director Julie Philipp and moderated by the Democrat and Chronicle’s Editorial Page Editor James Lawrence. Governor Paterson and his budget director Robert Megna took questions from six editors from upstate New York newspapers.

In addition to Lawrence, the editors include:

Jane Sutter – Democrat and Chronicle, Rochester
Sutter is deputy editorial page editor for the Democrat and Chronicle. She writes editorials and works with guest essayists and its Board of Contributors.

Michael Vogel – The Buffalo News
Vogel is the editorial page editor of The Buffalo News. An editorial writer since 1998, he joined the news staff as a reporter in 1970 and for more than three decades has covered a variety of beats and assignments.

Fred Fiske – The Post Standard, Syracuse
Fiske is senior editor of The Post-Standard’s editorial page.

Jude Seymour – Watertown Daily Times
Seymour is editor of the WatertownDailyTimes.com Web site.  He has a blog, “All Politics is Local.”

David Kubissa –Star-Gazette, Elmira; The Ithaca Journal; Press & Sun-Bulletin, Binghamton
Kubissa is associate editor of the Elmira Star-Gazette. He oversees the Opinion page, and writes editorials and a twice-monthly column. He also represents The Ithaca Journal and the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin.
