The San Francisco Opera: Simon Boccanegra

The second largest opera company in North America presents ten operas this season, performed at The War Memorial Opera House. Among those ten operas are Verdi: Simon Boccanegra on 8/15 in Italian, Wallace: The Bonesetter’s Daughter on 8/22 in English, and Komgold’s Die Tote Stadt on 8/29 in German. The San Francisco Opera airs on Saturday, August 15 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5/HD91.5-1.
 
This season includes operas by Hvorostovsky, Stewart Wallace (with lyricist Amy Tan), Korngold, Mozart, Mussorgsky, Puccini, Donizetti, Verdi and Strauss. Other operas that are to broadcast this season are: Idomeno, Boris Godunov, The Elixir of Love, The Elixir of Love for Families, La Boheme, Three Decembers, and the Verdi Requiem.
