5,000 items up for bid -- tune in and see just a sampling of what the 2010 WXXI Online Auction has to offer.
WXXI's 42nd Annual Online Auction kicks off Saturday, April 24 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11) with a special one-hour television broadcast showcasing this year’s merchandise. A 2010 Black Ford Focus SE from Shepard Ford is just one of thousands of great items up for bid at WXXI.org/auction, and featured in the televised preview show on April 24th. The Auction runs April 24 through May 8, 2010.
Other Auction items include: original works of art from featured artists Laura Wilder and Jim Christy, a 5-Day Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Trip, food and wine certificates, exciting town packages, and a 2010 collectible WXXI Auction truck.
WXXI encourages people to register for a bidder’s account before the broadcast by logging on to WXXI.org and clicking on the Auction banner in the upper right-hand corner. This year if individuals overbid on an item by $25 or more, they will receive a $5 gift certificate to the Little Bakery, and a complimentary block of Cabot Cheese.
In addition to the Auction preview broadcast on Saturday, April 24, WXXI will also showcase additional merchandise in preview specials airing on WXXI’s additional DT channels – PBS World (DT21.2/cable 524) and Create (DT21.3/cable 433). Proceeds from the Auction support the quality programs and services the station provides to the Rochester community, including PBS and NPR programming; locally produced documentaries such as Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre and Memories of Midtown; locally produced TV series such as Second Opinion, Homework Hotline, and New York Wine & Table; and radio series like Fascinatin’ Rhythm and With Heart and Voice; Ed.Video Online; and outreach initiatives.
