Great Performances at the Met presents "Carmen".

Elīna Garanča sings the title role opposite Roberto Alagna as Don José in director Richard Eyre’s production of Bizet’s masterpiece. Barbara Frittoli is Micaëla and Teddy Tahu Rhodes plays the matador Escamillo. Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducts. Renee Fleming hosts the broadcast.

Great Performances at the Met "Carmen" airs Wednesday, August 4 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable 11/cable 1011).

GREAT PERFORMANCES AT THE MET returns for a fourth season of opera telecasts. Presentations include “Aida,” “Turandot,” “Les Contes d’Hoffmann,” “Der Rosenkavalier” and “Carmen.” In addition, “The Audition” covers the dramatic week leading up to the finals of the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions.
