Evensong Celebration of Richard Gladwell
Come join a special Evensong in celebration of the life of Richard Gladwell.
You are invited to the Evensong celebration of Richard Gladwell on Sunday, November 1 at 4 p.m. Gladwell, the host of With Heart and Voice, passed away on October 15, 2009 after a battle with brain cancer. The Evensong celebration will be held at Asbury First United Methodist Church on East Avenue. Choirs from Asbury Church, Christ Church, Third Presbyterian Church, Downtown United Presbyterian, Incarnate Word Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Saint Anne Church, Saint Luke Church and Saint Paul Church will participate in the traditional Anglican liturgy.
The music will include Parry: I was glad; Stanford: Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in G; Brahms: How lovely is Thy dwelling place; and Cary Ratcliff: Praise God with heart and voice. The prelude begins at 3:30 p.m. and will be offered by the Emerald Brass Quintet and Madrigalia. Evensong service begins at 4:00 p.m. A reception will follow in The Gathering Space.

Also this Sunday, November 1, WXXI will broadcast a special tribute to With Heart and Voice host, Richard Gladwell. Co-hosted by Jeanne Fisher and Peter DuBois, the program will include portions of interviews that Richard recorded over the years, and will feature some of his favorite music. Selections include Sir Hubert Parry’s I Was Glad, How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place from the Brahms Requiem, Steal Away as sung by Jessye Norman, John Rutter’s Requiem and hymns by Stanford and Vaughan Williams. The With Heart and Voice Tribute to Richard Gladwell will be broadcast this Sunday afternoon at 1:00.
