Independent Lens Offers an Eye Opening Documentary about a Community in Cairo Who are Far Ahead of Modern "Green" Initiatives.

In honor of Earth Day, PBS series Independent Lens will present an exclusive screening of the highly acclaimed documentary, Garbage Dreams by Mai Iskander on Thursday, April 21, 6:00pm PT / 9:00pm ET on the Independent Lens fan page on Facebook or on the Independent Lens Livestream channel.
 
The exclusive free live screening event will feature a Q & A with Filmmaker Mai Iskander who will also provide an update about life in Egypt for the Zaballeen post the historic revolution.
 
The Garbage Dreams film is also accompanied by the Garbage Dreams game, in which players assume the role of the Zaballeen. The game demonstrates that recycling is not just good for the environment; it's also sound economic practice. Garbage Dreams will be rebroadcast on the PBS Independent Lens series May 31st at 10 pm on WXXI-HD.
