Civil, political discussion... that's what you expect from WXXI

You must be aware of the the upcoming 26th Congressional District election. You've probably seen the loud, polarizing political ads from all sides, and heard the candidates shouting at each other across the radio dial. But you haven't seen -- or heard -- that quarreling on WXXI. We do not accept any political advertising, instead we offer candidates the opportunity of take part in civil discourse through moderated debates. In fact, you may have watched last week's debate between Democrat Kathy Hochul and Republican Jane Corwin recorded at WXXI's studios. (If you missed it, you can watch it online here.) We will be following Tuesday's election and reporting the results on AM 1370 and here on WXXI.org -- but one of our greatest strengths comes when the election is over and we help answer the question, "Now what?" You will be able to listen to those stories beginning Wednesday on Morning Edition, All Things Considered and 1370 Connection as we follow them throughout the week. Fair, balanced and trusted news -- it's what you expect from WXXI and what we promise to deliver every day.
