WXXI is jazzed up in June
As we move into June you may be making plans to take in the sounds of this year's Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. If you do, there's a good chance you will see WXXI's production crew there. We will be taping six concerts this year -- five at Kilbourn Hall and one special show featuring John Nugent from Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. Aside from the concert recordings, our crews will be traveling throughout the Festival capturing the sights and sounds for an upcoming 10th Anniversary Jazz Festival series. This will mark the fourth series of concerts WXXI has produced and distributed across the country. Our Jazz series has reached an audience of more than three and a half million people nationally, showcasing Rochester as a center for the arts while helping fostering economic revitalization and growth locally.
And if you are at the festival, be sure to stop by WXXI's booth on the corner of Gibbs Street and Main Street to pickup a Jazz Festival schedule, enter a drawing or just to let us know what you think of our programming.
You won't be able to escape the Jazz Festival on our air either as Bob Smith speaks with various artists on 1370 Connection, WRUR's Scott Regan and Mark Grube blog throughout the nine days, and our news team provides daily reports. And, if you are still looking for some more jazz when you get home from the Festival, we are broadcasting several encore performances from past Rochester International Jazz Festival concerts at midnight June 11-13 and June 15-18 on WXXI-TV/HD.
