WXXI's Community Cinema invites you to a free screening of a film that questions whether the yearly celebration of Black History Month is having any detrimental effects on the teaching of Black history.

The Rochester Oratorio Society announced a commission this week in celebration of the upcoming 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and other milestones. The ROS will commission composer Glenn McClure to write a piece including texts, instruments and musical resources from Ghana, West Africa, and Western New York.
During this poignant edition of Stage Notes, host Robert Hammond and his guest Cullen R. Titmas (Tony in the Broadway tour of Billy Elliot the Musical) will explore many of the important themes Billy Elliot the Musical brings to life, including being who you are, expressing yourself, the importance of family and community, overcoming obstacles, bullying, and following dreams.
